Rakhine, December 17, 2024

The Arakan Army (AA) has released video footage depicting the situation at the Western Regional Military Command Headquarters (Na Pa Kha) in Ann, Rakhine State, amid reports that the base has been seized.

The video, released late on December 16, showcases what the AA describes as the โ€œcurrent state of the Western Regional Military Command Headquarters.โ€ In the footage, nearly 100 junta soldiers are seen surrendering to the AA, raising white flags and laying down their arms.

The AA included a stark warning at the end of the short video:

Unverified reports also suggest that Brigadier-General Kyaw Kyaw Han, the acting commander of the juntaโ€™s Western Regional Military Command, fled the base during heavy fighting and was later killed in a clash with AA forces in a nearby forest.

The AA has yet to officially confirm whether it has fully captured the Western Regional Military Command Headquarters.
