Residents of Myanmarโ€™s commercial capital, Yangon, are enduring extended power outages and subsequent water shortages, according to interviews with local residents.

Many neighborhoods in the city are experiencing significantly longer power cuts, with some residents reporting receiving power for only around three hours a day, often in intermittent, hour-long bursts.

The prolonged power outages have led to disruptions in water supply, with many residents also facing water shortages. The lack of electricity has impacted the operation of water pumping stations, exacerbating the water crisis.

These ongoing disruptions have significantly affected daily life in Yangon, impacting businesses, households, and essential services.
