The G7 group of industrialized nations on November 26 called on Myanmarโ€™s military junta to release all political prisoners and engage in inclusive dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis.

In a joint statement, the G7 reiterated its support for UN Security Council Resolution 2669, which demands an end to violence in Myanmar and the immediate release of all those detained, including State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

The statement also welcomed ASEANโ€™s efforts to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the conflict based on a five-point consensus and urged all armed groups to protect civilians and allow unhindered humanitarian access.

The G7 commended the recent visit of the UN Special Envoy on Myanmar and called for an immediate halt to the supply of arms and dual-use goods to the Myanmar military.

The statement concluded by emphasizing the need to create conditions for the safe and voluntary return of all internally displaced persons, including the Rohingya.
