During the International Anti-Corruption Day ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw on December 9, military leader General Min Aung Hlaing declared that individuals involved in corruption would face prosecution and that their illicit gains would be confiscated and designated as public property.


โ€œCorruption is often perceived as merely taking bribes, but it is, in reality, a deep-rooted and pervasive issue within human society,โ€ the military leader stated. He elaborated that corruption encompasses extortion, fraud, misuse of state funds and assets, personal exploitation of public resources, and actions driven by self-interest.
