Myanmar activists staged a protest outside the Chinese Consulate in Auckland, New Zealand, at 2:00 p.m. on December 19, demanding an end to Chinese support for Myanmarโ€™s military regime.

During the demonstration, a dispute arose between the protesters and the consulateโ€™s security guards. New Zealandโ€™s diplomatic security forces intervened and mediated the situation, ensuring the protest continued peacefully outside the consulate premises.

Protesters reported that Chinese consulate staff photographed and videotaped the demonstration from inside the building. The activists chanted slogans calling for an end to Chinaโ€™s support for Myanmarโ€™s military junta.

The protest was attended by former members of the All Burma Studentsโ€™ Democratic Front (ABSDF), Myanmar students studying in New Zealand, and other pro-democracy activists from the Myanmar community.

The demonstrators vowed to continue their activism, urging the international community to stand against oppression in Myanmar.
