Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun has expressed disappointment with the draft resolution on the Myanmar situation approved by the United Nations General Assembly, stating that it lacks strong measures to halt the sale of arms and jet fuel to the military council.

The ambassador emphasized that the draft resolution, addressing the situation of the Rohingya and other minorities in Myanmar, falls short of offering solutions to the ongoing crisis and the fears of the Myanmar people.

He also pointed out that despite the resolution being directly related to Myanmar and its people, the Myanmar delegation had limited opportunities to participate in the discussions during the negotiation process. The draft was presented at the meeting before its approval, he noted.

Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun further remarked that the military councilโ€™s ability to commit inhumane crimes is facilitated by direct or indirect support from the international community.

He urged the international community to immediately cease the flow of military equipment, including weapons, ammunition, jet fuel, and financial aid to the military council, and to end the culture of impunity.
