On August 6th, the Kokang Army (MNDAA) released around 300 family members of prisoners of war (POW) who were detained at the Northeast Command Headquarters in Lashio, according to military sources. The released family members include children, women, and the elderly. The Kokang Army has indicated that family members of POWs will continue to be released daily.

However, the detained soldiers, referred to as "coup soldiers," will remain in custody. They will be held in accordance with the Prisoner of War Law.

On August 3rd, following the capture of the Northeast Command Headquarters by joint forces with the Kokang Army, nearly 4,000 individualsโ€”including officers, other ranks, soldiers, and their families, along with the regional commander were captured.
