The Voice of Freedomโ€“ Karenni Idol, a platform for showcasing ๐™†๐™–๐™ง๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฃ๐™ž youth talent, has officially announced its return, along with an exciting panel of judges that includes five renowned figures in the music and arts scene: renowned singer and composer Lynn Lynn, Daniel Saw, Pee Pi, Phoe Thingyan, and singer Chan Chan, following a year-long hiatus due to the ongoing military situation in the region.

The contest, which first launched in August last year, aims to provide inspiration and entertainment to those struggling during the prolonged revolutionary period while uncovering the dreams and talents of Karenni youth.

The programโ€™s director, Myo Thant, explained in an interview last year that the idea for the show emerged while visiting various locations such as refugee camps, schools, and hospitals.

In a December 2024 announcement, the organizers expressed their excitement about the contestโ€™s return, highlighting the dreams and aspirations of youth across Karenni State: โ€œOur youth have dreams, goals, and futures, just like the youth in the rest of the country. Since the military coup in 2021, many of these dreams have been overshadowed by the ongoing crisis. But now, we aim to make these dreams come true despite the challenges.โ€

The announcement also pointed out the achievements of ๐™†๐™–๐™ง๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฃ๐™ž youth during the revolution, with many gaining admission to medical schools, training programs, and universities despite the ongoing conflict. However, some young people still hold dreams of becoming singers or artists while finding themselves caught up in responsibilities, fighting instead of following their artistic passions.

โ€œOur revolutionโ€™s ultimate goal is to ensure a better future for our youth in a free nation,โ€ the organizers stated. โ€œThis contest is a way to help pave the path for their dreams while offering them a chance to make their aspirations a reality.โ€

In the first phase of the competition, 151 video submissions were received from last yearโ€™s online contest. After a preliminary screening, 44 contestants were selected, and 35 of them advanced to the second audition, according to the latest update.
