The National Unity Government (NUG) announced that 49 personnel from the military junta, including 4 captains and 2 police inspectors, defected to the NUG in September and October.
Some of these defectors had brought weapons, and those who carried weapons were given honorarium payments by the Ministry of Defense according to the value of the weapons, which included 17 firearms and grenades.
The NUG Ministry of Defense issued a statement urging junta soldiers and police officers who wish to stand with the people and who are suffering under the brutal military junta's laws, including those forcibly recruited by the junta, to contact the People’s Embrace Program via its Telegram channel and join the nearest People’s Defense Force (PDF) and People’s Defense Teams (PDT) and ethnic resistance organizations.
