A combined force of soldiers and various governmental departments under the junta detained travelers along the Nyaung-U to Myingyan Road near Lat Pan Chay Paw village in Nyaung-U Township since the morning of December 7, and as of now, over 100 men and women were reportedly detained. Families of those arrested remain deeply concerned as there has been no information about their whereabouts.

Security has also been tightened in Nyaung-U town, with increased checks and military patrols. The Nyaung-U Township People’s Defense Team (PDT) has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel except for emergencies.
