326 prisoners have been released from Oh Bo and Pyapon prisons.
People close to the prison said that a total of 326 prisoners have been released from Oh Bo Prison, Mandalay, and Pyapon Prison, Ayeyarwaddy.
A resident of Mandalay, who did not want to be named for security reasons, said that 180 people have been released from Oh Bo Prison, including Dr. Thet Htay, a surgeon who participated in the non-violent civil disobedience movement, and Sayardaw U Wathon, who were imprisoned under Section 505 of the Penal Code.
"There have been four batches released from Oh Bo prison. There are about 180 people who have been released so far. There are no famous political prisoners. I heard that Dr. Thet Htay, a surgeon, and U Wathon, a monk, have been released." Sayardaw U Wathon, who was released, is a monk who participated in the strike in Mandalay. And also 146 prisoners were released from the Pyapon Prison in Ayeyarwaddy, and only two were sentenced under Section 505(a).
