The Chinese government has confirmed that the leader of the Kokang Forces, U Pheung Daxun, is currently receiving medical treatment.

"The leader of the MNDAA, U Pheung Daxun, requested permission to seek medical treatment in China and is now recovering after receiving medical treatment," stated the Chinese Foreign Ministry. This announcement was made by Lin Jian during a regular press conference in Beijing today.

The statement comes amid widespread reports that U Pheung Daxun had refused China's request to withdraw from Lashio, located in Northern Shan State, leading to speculation that he was subsequently detained by Chinese authorities.

He is reportedly receiving medical treatment in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, and has been in contact with his family in recent days.
