A fire that raged for more than 16 hours on an oil tanker in Dawei, located in the Tanintharyi Region of southern Myanmar, resulted in eight fatalities, three injuries, and one person reported missing.
The fire broke out at around 4:30 p.m. on October 14 on the Michili Oil Tanker in the Kyat Sar Pin ward in the jetty area on the Strand Road in Dawei. The fire was extinguished using foam fire-fighting agents with the help of 12 fire trucks, and it was completely put out by 9 a.m. the following day.
Seven men and one woman were killed in the fire, while two men and one woman were injured, and one man remains missing, according to a statement from the junta-controlled Dawei Fire Service Department.
