On November 13, it marked the one-year anniversary of the Arakan Army (AA) launching offensives against military junta bases in Rakhine State. AA spokesperson Khine Thu Kha told Shwe Phee Myay news agency that their success was attributed to strong unity between the AA and the people of Rakhine. The AA remains confident that it will continue to achieve its military and political objectives in line with its set strategies and goals.
During the one-year campaign, the AA successfully seized several towns, including Paletwa in Chin State, as well as towns in Rakhine State such as Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Pauktaw, Myebon, Ponnagyun, Rambree, Thandwe, Rathedaung, and Buthidaung, with ongoing intense fighting in Maungdaw, Ann, Taungup, and Gwa townships, Khine Thu Kha said.
As announced in its one-year anniversary statement for offensive in Rakhine, in Ann Township, the AA has secured eight major military bases, including the 373rd Light Infantry Battalion, 374th Artillery Battalion, 757th Electrical Workshop Unit, 345th Military Ordnance Unit, No. 8 Battlefield Mobilization Training School, No. 2 300-bedded Military Hospital, an Air Defense Unit, and a Military Security Unit. Alongside these, several strategic outposts and guard posts were also captured, with operations ongoing to secure remaining junta positions.
