The National Unity Government's (NUG) Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology (MoCIT) has issued a public warning regarding phishing websites designed to deceive citizens and steal sensitive information.

In a statement released on November 22, the Ministry revealed that fraudulent websites, including one imitating the NUGโ€™s official domain as "๐—ป๐˜‚๐—ด๐—บ๐˜†๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฟ.๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ด" by swapping the letters โ€œ๐—ปโ€ and โ€œ๐—บโ€ in the official domain name, are attempting to mimic the official domain to collect sensitive information.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to vigilant citizens who reported these security threats and urged the public to remain cautious. MoCIT reassured that no data breaches have occurred due to this phishing attempt and advised the public not to panic. The Ministry confirmed it has contacted the respective hosting and domain providers to address the problem and is actively working to block access to the counterfeit site.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of websites before providing sensitive information. For any official NUG communications, the public is advised to verify the official domain โ€œ๐—ป๐˜‚๐—ด๐—บ๐˜†๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ.๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ดโ€ carefully before engaging with the site, as phishing websites often rely on subtle tricks, such as rearranging letters, to deceive users.

To help citizens protect themselves, the Ministry has provided resources on phishing prevention through its official website and YouTube channel. Additionally, the Ministry has conducted cybersecurity training to educate the public on avoiding phishing scams.
