Following the capture of the Northeastern Regional Military Command (Ya Ma Kha) in Lashio, northern Shan State, by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), numerous military junta personnel have been detained, including high-ranking officers such as Regional Chief Major General Soe Tint, Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe, and Commander-in-Chief of the Northeastern Command Brigadier General Thant Htin Soe. Major General Soe Tint was captured on August 3 at around 9:30 a.m., while Brigadier General Myo Min Htwe, commander of Operation Command Headquarters-1, was arrested at the Artillery Battalion after retreating from Lashio Prison.

According to a source from the MNDAA, the number of arrested officers and battalion commanders is significant but currently incalculable. As of 9:00 a.m. on August 4, a record 4,783 military junta personnel and their family members had surrendered to the Kokang Army MNDAA, with the number of surrenders reportedly continuing to rise.

While the MNDAA has gained full control over the entire Northeastern Regional Military Command, some military junta forces have yet to surrender and continue to defend positions inside the city, according to local residents. Reports indicate a foul smell emanating from the bodies of soldiers and civilians killed by heavy weapons in some neighborhoods and places during the battles.
