The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) has condemned Russia’s decision to deploy armed security forces to the upcoming elections organized by Myanmar’s military government, calling it a deliberate act of invasion.
According to the NUCC, Russia's plan to send election observers, accompanied by armed security personnel, poses a serious threat to Myanmar’s democratic movement. The council described the deployment as a strategic move to undermine democratic efforts and strengthen the military regime's grip on power.
The NUCC warned that any treaties or agreements signed between the military council and Russia would be considered void if a federal government is established in Myanmar.
Myanmar’s military leader, Min Aung Hlaing, has been accused of genocide against the Rohingya people and is under investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Additionally, the military government’s attempt to gain recognition at the United Nations was rejected. Myanmar’s legitimate UN representative, Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, continues to serve in the international body despite the military's efforts to unseat him.
